I had the distinct pleasure of listening to him and the rest of the Hawkins family every Sunday. But he was such a hero to me, and I was in such awe, that I never approached him to ask about the many musical puzzles he seemed to solve so effortlessly.
This book was a feast. A discussion between friends. A conversation I could listen in on to better understand how he merged multiple musical genres to change gospel music forever. It also provides glimpses of the incredible human who prized humility while sharing his awesome gifts with us all.

Since childhood, Joel has been the musician idol I have revered most (there isn't even a close second :).
